Global Concepts Chess Club hosted their second annual Halloween Chess Tournament this past Saturday the 24th of October. We had a record high attendance of 39 chess players all dressed up in their spooky and entertaining costumes. The participants enjoyed pizza, beverages, cookies, and candy from our Pinata made kindly by Mrs. Cirillo. The parent volunteers were Mrs. Mellon, Mrs. Weber, Miss. Block, Miss Ahmed, Mrs. Santora, Mr. Harvey, and Mrs. Dent and to all others present a huge THANK YOU... for without your assistance this tournament would have been crazy scary.
The players were divided into three sections depending on their abilities. The first section "The Vampires" consisted of USCF players rated 700 or higher. The second section "The Werewolves" consisted of USCF players rated under 700, and our final section were "The Zombies" which were all our newcomers who do not have a USCF membership yet.
